During library hours, all books should be returned to the book-drop at the Service Desk (on the first floor of the Library). After hours, books may be returned to the library book-drop, located in the Babcock Street parking area and also by the south-west Library entrance. DVDs, CDs, diskettes, microfiche, videotapes, other forms of media, and Interlibrary loan items must be returned to the Service Desk.
Items can be renewed if they are not on hold for another patron or needed for the Reserve Collection. Items may be renewed at the Service Desk, via telephone, or online provided the item is NOT overdue. A patron is allowed a maximum of 4 renewals and items must be returned after this time. Any renewals beyond the maximum of 4 is at the discretion of the Service Desk staff.
Library patrons are responsible for returning materials on time. Receipts provided at the time of check-out indicate the due date. The Library is not obligated to send overdue notices, but does so as a courtesy. Patrons must inform the Library of changes in address and other contact information.
1-30 days overdue: $.25 per item per day
Over 30 days overdue: $25 processing fee plus replacement cost.
$1.00 per item per hour for reserve materials
LOST OR DAMAGED FEES
The borrower will be charged a processing fee of $25 and the replacement cost for lost or damaged materials. A hold will be placed on the student account (preventing registration, graduation, and sending of transcripts) for any unfulfilled library obligation.
The Reserve section of the Service Desk contains a collection of government documents, school catalogs, disks, textbooks, class supplements, Brevard and Indian River County topographical maps, instructors' personal files, books, supplies, and other materials that are in high demand.
Items in Reserves are for use in the Library and may be checked out for two-hour periods. Shortened loan period may be imposed during periods of high demand. Instructors’ Reserves and Library Reserve materials may not leave the Library. Videotapes may be checked out for one week.
In most cases, only one Reserve item may be checked out at one time. If the patron intends to make copies, then any two folders and/or notebooks containing an instructor's photocopies may be checked out. If two individual items must be used in conjunction, then the items may be checked out together, i.e. a solution manual and textbook.
All items are subject to recall for placement in the Reserve Collection. Recalls for Reserve materials are effective immediately.
Patrons may place routine holds on materials that are currently in use by other patrons. This can be done in writing or electronically through the Catalog.
